Inclusive Education Method

Muruganandam was a recluse and lay desolate in his small house. His mouth dropped so much saliva that he had to be cleaned every now and then. The truth that the boy was shunned and often teased by other children in the village did not leave him with much of a choice but to have no friends. His only companion was his worried mother.

Muruganandam's institution had to be changed to Metro Matriculation School, a special institution for disabled children. As a result he did not interact much with the children from his locality-which not only abstained him from learning to conduct himself socially but he also continued to remain relatively aloof.

The Ramakrishna Vidyalaya took the initiative to educate the desolate boy's mother about the need to enroll Muruganandam in a school amidst normal children.

The Inclusive Education Method has been a huge success in other countries in dealing with disabled children, educating them and teaching them interpersonal skills. With an initiative from the Ramakrishna Vidyalaya volunteers, Sarojini, the Principal of Pusupathiyappa High School, agreed to train a few teachers in her school before admitting Muruganandam.

Life has changed drastically for-once lonely Muruganandam. It's not only his mother who feels elated to send her son to a school right across the road but to see him grow, learn, and acquire a certain social behaviour midst other normal children.
