It appears as if nature is angry with us for the disrespect we have shown to the Earth and its environment. During the last 5 years we have been exposed to natural and human made calamities of massive proportions. ActionAid India and its partner organizations have been in the forefront of relief and rehabilitation interventions in the aftermath of the J&K Earthquake, the Asian Tsunami, communal riots in Gujarat, the flash floods in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Bihar, the North-East, the Kutch Earthquake in Gujarat, and the supercyclone in Orissa.

Our staff and partners trained in disaster response, supported by ActionAid International colleagues, have been at the forefront of relief and rehabilitation efforts to provision care and support to the affected people from the poorest and most marginalised communities. Also, we have mobilised international and national solidarity and through volunteer action. An important aspect of our disaster relief work has been our focus on provisioning psycho-social care to the affected and vulnerable people, women and children in particular.
