Regional Initiatives:

Anti Trafficking - a Network Initiative in West Bengal ActionAid Kolkata Regional Office is working through partners on the issue of Anti Trafficking (AT) since 2004 with local partner NGOs in West Bengal . The AT work is through a network mode in the state and also between Bangladesh and India.

The major initiatives at the district level were directed towards prevention, advocacy for the rights of the vulnerable communities, rescue and rehabilitation of the trafficked persons. We are also merging the Asia level Campaign of Violence Against Women and Mobility with Dignity with our project and slowly moving the rights and advocacy aspects strongly in our programs. Towards this end the program also included training of the project field staff and also seeking the gradual training of the community volunteers and community people in advocacy and rights of girls and women and that of the trafficked persons.
