The Koriya Initiative

Building Organisation of Tribal People To Secure their Basic Rights
The Koriya Initiative became operational in January 2003. This is a direct initiative of the Chhattisgarh (CG) RO. This initiative focuses on the basic rights of tribal communities and therefore is situated in a region of considerable tribal presence. The tribal communities in Koriya district suffer from a severe and multiple denial of their basic rights. The programme aims to build a strong organisation of the tribal people (led by women) to create a movement to secure the basic rights ranging from Food and health security to control over forest and land resources.
