Regional Initiatives:
SCINIC - a Project on Child Labour
SCINIC - Southern Collective for New Initiatives on Childhood is a consortium of fifteen NGOs. SCNIC operates in Tirunelveli Virudhunagar, and Tuticorin districts of Tamil Nadu, South India . This network is being co-ordinated by Centre for Education, Development Action and Research (CEDAR).
SCNIC concentrates on 360 villages (spread across fifteen blocks of the three above mentioned districts), towards promoting child rights, building the community capacity in identifying and act on issues of child labour, bondage, trafficking and facilitating a community response that will ensure that all children access their right to education, freedom and a protected childhood.
