SPARC INDIA - Lucknow

SPARC India was established in the year 1996 to start Community Based Rehabilitation Programmes in the urban slums of Lucknow City of Uttar Pradesh. The thrust of the programme was on health and medical rehabilitation of physically challenged, formation of self- help groups focusing on disability and linking of persons with disabilities with existing government schemes. By the end of the year 1999, the organization felt that there was a similar need to initiate rural based community based rehabilitation (CBR) programme also since disability is largely left ignored in villages due to several factors like - lack of education, poverty and non-availability of relevant resources in villages.[Download full report]
