ActionAid India works
in 24 states and 2 union
territories
through 13 regional offices located in state capitals, and reaches out to
more than 12 million poor and marginalized people.
We support 108 long-term projects (working
closely with particular communities for between one and ten
years) and 105 short-term projects (upto one year). The long term initiatives are implemented by 122
partner NGOs.
Out of 105 short-term initiatives, 69 are
handled by 77 partner
organisations.
ActionAid staff teams with relevant expertise lead 36 short-term projects.
ActionAid’s work in
India is organised in a number of thematic areas – HIV and AIDS, Education,
Food and Livelihoods, Peace and Security, Women’s Rights – and focuses on
work with poor and marginalised social groups including Dalits, indigenous
people, urban poor, Muslims and women.
We also have a national
tsunami team working in tsunami-affected areas with 32 partner
organisations.
