    • Basic Information about the initiative
    • Dalit Adhikar Sangathan, Odisha is associated with Action Aid Association since last four years for the cause of Dalit Dignity and Identity in 7 districts of Odisha namely Puri, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jajpur and Khurda and specifically 58 LRP villages of Ganjam, Puri and Jagatsinghpur districts of Odisha. We have been engaging with the communities in sensitising the on the issue related to land rights, supporting the claim application for land and following up with revenue authorities for early distribution of homestead and agriculture land. The landless women of Khanabadi village in Jagatsinghpur interfaced at least ten times to Tehsiladr and women of Pandripada Panchahayat in Ganjam district met the District Collector two times on the grievance day for early distribution of land. RTI was applied to know the status of land claimantメs applications. In spite of all these interventions, the landless families in LRP area are yet to get the land. However, in Bijipur village in Nimapara block of Puri, 11 families accessed 43 decimal of land for community farming and in Sana Ichhapur village in Polasara block of Ganjam, the landless Dalit women forcefully acquired 2 acres of land for agriculture purposes. Through our state level advocacy, the government of Odisha has revised annual income of eligible landless families from Rs.24000 to Rs.40000 and issued a circular for immediate survey of landless families for land distribution. The revised income level of landless families would facilitate inclusion of more number of landless households in land distribution program. In the LRP area, the landless Dalit communities struggle to use common land as those are occupied by influential people.
