    • Basic Information about the initiative
    • "Arundhathiyars are the most marginalized groups among Dalits and are called Dalit among Dalits. The untouchablity against Arundhathiyars is not only practiced by Caste Hindus but also by fellow dominant Dalits. In Arunthathiyar community’s desertion of women is commonly accepted and it creates lots of single women. These women are vulnerable towards sexual exploitations and economical abuse by feudal and also by men of their own communities. Nilam Trust and Arunthamilar Viduthalai Iyyakam were found in 2009 under the leadership of Mr. Jakkaiyan and 6 other Arunthathiyar women. ActionAid has worked with Nilam Trust on NF mode for three years and appraisal has been completed in the year 2014. Nilam Trust (Arunthamilar Viduthalai Iyyakam) is working on eradication of manual scavenging and sub caste reservation to empower women and educate children of the community. "
