Gender-based violence is a manifestation of patriarchy and historically unequal power relations between men and women. According to estimates 1 in 3 women around the world has experienced either physical or sexual violence in her lifetime (WHO, 2013). In India 39 crimes against women are reported every hour (NCRB, 2016).
ActionAid India has been working on the issue of violence against women across its operational areas by ensuring safe spaces in communities, providing survivors of patriarchal violence with immediate relief and rehabilitation support.
