Child Sponsorship

Child sponsorship is about sponsoring a child and supporting the child's community to help take good care of its children.

Child sponsorship is a regular giving program, wherein your (monthly/ quarterly/ half yearly/ annual) contribution ensures education, health care support and a safe childhood to children from the most marginalized communities in India. You will not only be ensuring a bright future to the children but also the entire community the child is from. The sponsored child keeps you informed about the progress made in their lives and that of the community. To effectively leverage the sponsored child’s efforts as an ambassador of the community in which he or she lives, we link each child to up to three donors.

Regular giving (or direct debit) helps us plan ahead for long term projects. There is an urgent need for regular giving as the people we work with, need help every day. And your regular donation will help bring about a substantial change in their lives.

When you support a child
  • You are supporting the child's whole community
  • You are not just helping the child go to school but are addressing all the factors that
are keeping the child out of it
  • You are not just providing the child with a healthy childhood but also helping build
opportunities for the child's family to have a sustainable source of livelihood and income

FAQ's

ActionAid India has been working with poor and marginalised people in India since 1972. We work in 25 states and one Union Territory reaching out to over 6 million people every year, those of whom belong to the most marginalised and excluded groups.

We partner with local NGOs, community based organizations and people's movements to collectively address poverty, inequality and injustice.

Our focus is on the rights of India’s most marginalised communities: Dalit and indigenous people, rural and urban poor, women, children and minorities. These groups face an acute lack of access to and control over resources, services, and institutions and our efforts are to equip them with knowledge about their rights and develop capacities in them to demand their constitutional rights.

We pay special attention to those in vulnerable situations such as people living with chronic hunger, disability, migrant and bonded workers, children who are out of school, city-dwellers without a home, and people whose land or livelihood is under threat.

We also work with women, men, girls and boys who have been trafficked, displaced, or hit by natural and human-made disasters.

ActionAid supports a wide range of long term and short term initiatives in 25 states and 1 union territory of India – which aim to improve the lives and living conditions of marginalised communities such as Dalits, Adivasis, Rural and Urban poor, Women, Children and members of minority communities. In the process, we work closely with several grassroots organisations and community based organisations – who lead the work on the ground. 80% of the donations we receive are used up in implementation of these initiatives on the ground. 13% of the conations we raise are spent to strengthen the support systems at various levels that help us in executing these initiatives. 7% of the funds we raise are used up in activities that help us to mobilise resources that can guarantee a long term support to such initiatives.
