As the COVID-19 crisis intensifies, amid livelihood losses, the jobless and incomeless migrant workers are returning to their villages. Our regional teams are facilitating the registration of these workers to enable their safe travel back home. Furthermore, to ease their journey back to their native places, together with our volunteers and allies, as part of our ‘Relief in Transit’ initiative, we are providing them relief material and support services through migrant hubs operational across states.

Based at locations witnessing a high influx of people, such as the highways, these hubs are distributing cooked food packets, snacks, fruits, water, vitamins and supplements, soaps, sanitizers and footwear to migrant workers crossing the hubs. In addition, these hubs are providing support services such as health check-ups, first aid and counselling, besides acting as resting points for labourers during their journey. A total of 51 such hubs are presently running across Bihar, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. The locations of these hubs and the services available can be seen here.
