The Union and State Governments have formulated several policies and schemes to address discrimination and inequality and ensure sustainable development for all. Recognising how indispensable education is for inclusive development, several scholarship schemes are in place to provide financial support to children from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, minorities and other marginalised communities. However, the lack of awareness about these schemes often deprives several eligible students of access to these schemes.

As part of our continued engagement with children from underprivileged backgrounds, we are running a campaign entitled #ActForScholarship across several states of the country. Under this initiative, together with community-based organisations and Human Rights Defenders, we organise meetings with students, parents and teachers to inform them about the various scholarship programmes available. Besides encouraging eligible students to apply for scholarships, our teams also orient students on filling up the required applications through informative posters and interactive discussions.

Over the last few weeks, our teams have met with communities and educational institutions. As of September 15, 2022, we reached nearly 1,40,00 children across 70 districts in eleven states and one Union Territory. Our teams supported more than 31,000 students from across these states to fill up and submit their scholarship applications.
