With support from Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung (RLS), and in collaboration with Workers Solidarity Network (WSN) and Citizens’ Rights Collective (CiRiC), ActionAid Association organized a three-day roundtable conference on improving conditions of work and living for circular migrants in India. Held in New Delhi from June 3 to June 5, the conference was aimed towards deepening the discourse on circular migration and labour market dynamics in India by bringing together key stakeholders who have been working on issues of labour, particularly labour migration. A major objective of this roundtable was to come up with concrete strategies and policy recommendations towards improving the work and living conditions of migrant workers with special focus on women.

The roundtable marked a successful step towards bridging the gap between academicians and practitioners engaged with the issues of migrant workers through discussion on theory, empirical research as well as anecdotal details. The discussions underscored the importance of themes such as identity, rights and citizenship on the one hand, and key policy recommendations for the government as well as civil society organizations, on the other.
