    • Several districts in Rayalaseema region are facing acute drought and failure of crops for the last three years. People are suffering severe setbacks in their living conditions and the situation of distress migration in search of employment is increasing. Agriculture operations in the project area is stalled due to failure of monsoon rains during the last year. There is no water to feed the animals which are important for agricultiure and to supplement income. The ecological diversity in the in Chittoor district particularly has suffered due to year after year recurrence of drought conditions -- many trees have died. There is little work on the ground on the part of the state government solve the problems of vulnerable agrarian communities in the backward regions of Andhra Pradesh.
