    • Basic Information about the initiative
    • Association of Pradeepan with ActionAid started in year 2009 during campaign on panchayat election. Madhya Pradesh Swashasan Abhiyan was initiated with 9 partners to intervene in panchayat election 2010. Since one of the major focus area of our work at grassroots was to intervene to make the panchayat functional as per PESA Act and Madhya Pradesh Panchayat Raj Act (as Multai is not under PESA). Organization was involved in awareness generation activities of PRI election at grass roots to make community responsive about the selection of right candidate, process of election and if possible they may also identify a good candidate within their group of marginalized and excluded communities with preference to women. The impact of this intervention was, four women candidates of Dalit community were elected as Sarpanch. Out of 37 candidates, 25 candidates were elected as ward panch. Later on to address the issue of social injustice, food insecurity and women trafficking in Betul district Pradeepan was supported by ActionAid as an external NF in the year 2011 and the support was extended in year 2012. Organization is already in the process to strengthen its linkages with likeminded groups at state and national level like Jan Pehel for advocacy on tribal issues at larger level.
