    • Basic Information about the initiative
    • Gramya and Pilupu, both the organisations work in Nalgonda which is a drought prone backward district in Telangana and work with tribal and backward communities. The two organizations are selected for the programme since each has expertise in their respective areas which can be shared to strengthen the programme significantly. Gramya started its interventions in Nalgonda District since 1997. They have been working towards promoting a gender just society with a strategy to work with marginalized communities. The aim is to campaign and advocate to bring about structural change in society and to promote pro-people legislations. Gramya and its Board Members have been working to promote women's rights for more than 3 decades. It is also able to influence public policy from the local to the international level through participation in the womenメs movement. Gramya has integrated its CBOs into the government IKP programme. Along with this integration, they have worked and trained more than 1300 women leaders in 5 districts. Gramya will guide Pilupu to bring gender equality into the project implementation. Gramya has been engaged with declining sex ratio in the district where the sex ratio is low with 952 in 2001 and 921 in 2011 and stands in third position with declining ratios in the state. Pilupu is a grass roots organisation dedicated for the upliftment of the poor and oppressed. It is operating in 18 villages of Nalgonda District in two Mandals. Pilupu will collectively work with Gramya on the above mentioned issues. The region wishes to continue the work on Child Sex Ratio in the ground with long term objectives.
